JOB TITLE: Academic Department and Program Associate




SALARY: $17.00/hour


Provide administrative assistance to the department chair and program directors in the following ways: serve as the department & program financial manager; act as office manager/lead worker; provide administrative support, event planning, assist in curriculum entry and management; coordinate evaluations of instruction by students; assist with program management; disseminate program communications; assist with marketing materials; coordinate activities related to student advisement; schedule and prepare advisory committee meetings; assist management of seminars; additional duties as needed for the department, programs, and CSTEMM college.


  • Minimum:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent judgment including sensitivity to personal and confidential information.
    • Excellent interpersonal, and customer service skills in working with a diverse community.
    • Working knowledge of computer hardware, the Internet, and computer applications such as Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
    • Experience in delegating and prioritizing work.
    • Attention to detail, proofreading, and editing skills.
    • Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness, and resourcefulness.
    • Evidence of the ability to work in independently and as part of a team environment and on collaborative efforts.

  • Preferred:
    • Experience in a higher education environment.
    • Experience working with financial information.
    • Experience in leading, assisting and directing others in multiple departments.
    • Experience with databases to query, interpret, and disseminate information.

The Business Department is housed in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Management and has about 26 instructional faculty and staff members. The department serves undergraduate and graduate majors including B.S. Business Administration, B.S. Supply Chain Management, B.S. Fashion and Retail, M.S. Operations and Supply Management, and M.S. Sustainable Management, as well as related majors.

The normal work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, with daily hours to be mutually agreed upon with supervisor.

The minimum starting salary is $17.00 per hour. The hourly rate for this position is negotiable based on experience and available budget. A six-month probation is required.
