Academic Department Assistant
The UW-Stout Teaching, Learning and Leadership Department within the School of Education is seeking a full-time academic department assistant who is committed to working in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent judgment, including sensitivity to personal and confidential information.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Basic computer skills and functional knowledge of computer hardware/accessories and the internet.
- Can delegate and prioritize work.
- Attention to detail, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness, and resourcefulness.
- Work independently and as part of a team environment and on collaborative efforts.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
Highly Desired
Experience in administrative and/or financial management position.
Experience in higher education.
Demonstrated commitment in establishing a positive work environment that embraces inclusion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: provide administrative assistance to the department chair, department members and students; serve as the departments' financial manager; purchase supplies and equipment; act as office manager/lead worker; manage departmental offices and processes; assist in curriculum management and entry; assist with recruitments and hiring paperwork; assist with instructor evaluations by students; general computer/technical support for office functions; and other related duties.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
The Teaching, Learning and Leadership (TLL) Department, housed in the School of Education, uses a pedagogical approach grounded in the theory and traditions of educational scholarship, along with UW-Stout's emphasis on applied learning, to prepare highly qualified and successful teachers, leaders, and student service professionals. The department supports six undergraduate programs that prepare graduates for preschool, primary, and secondary education: Art Education, Early Childhood Education, Family and Consumer Science Education, Marketing and Business Education, Special Education, and Technology Education, most of which are offered for both traditional on-campus students and for online adult students. In addition, the department¿s Career, Technical Education, and Training undergraduate program prepares teachers for post-secondary school settings, such as technical colleges, community colleges, and industrial training programs. Finally, the TLL Department provides three online graduate programs to prepare educational leaders: a Master of Science in Education, a Master of Science in Career and Technical Education, and a doctorate in Career and Technical Education Leadership.

The normal work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Minimum starting salary of $18.00/hour, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and available budget. The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan, demonstrating our commitment to the diverse needs of our employees.
