Accountant (Full-time temporary position)

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations, Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute
JOB DETAILS: Operating independently, while under the supervision of the Director of Operations, serve as the accountant for the UW-Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute (SVRI). Primary responsibilities include: establishing and maintaining financial accounts for all of SVRI, including multiple funding sources (General Purpose Revenue, Program Revenue, Fee-for-Service, Federal, and State programs); monitor and reconcile 19 accounts using internal financial and university automated financial systems; implement and maintain internal financial systems; analyze and interpret financial data; produce financial reports; perform internal and external reconciliations; project financial revenue and cash balances; advise SVRI management staff members; work within federal and state regulations requirements for federal grants; consult and provide assistance to the Director of Operations; ensure compliance with university policies and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Five or more years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with fiscal management, accounting principles and methods, including familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with automated personnel and financial systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office; strong capabilities with Microsoft Excel.
- Effective written and verbal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate reports.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent judgement.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Degree in accounting or business-related field.
- Experience with fiscal operations in higher education.
- Familiarity with State of Wisconsin purchasing processes.
- Familiarity with Federal grant budgeting and fiscal performance requirements.
