Admissions Counselor

The University of Wisconsin-Stout is looking for an Admissions Counselor to work in its Office of Admissions Department. This position will represent UW-Stout at educational fairs and events in the tri-state region. This position will also participate in UW-Stout’s on-campus visit program and provide tours and presentations to families and groups. This staff member will collaborate with Admissions Office staff members and other departments across campus to coordinate recruitment activities. All responsibilities shall be executed while demonstrating a commitment to inclusive excellence. Travel is required during the fall and spring recruitment seasons. Anticipated start date: June 1, 2019. *

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Work experience in admissions/recruiting or related *
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with diverse populations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner; Including the ability to communicate professionally and effectively to students, parents, staff, and high-level outside constituents
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel

Highly Desired

  • Strong customer service and public presentation skills
  • Experience planning, initiating, and organizing events
  • Must possess excellent multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skills, as well as initiative, resourcefulness, and attention to detail
  • Experience with computer systems and various software applications, especially Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management systems

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a recruitment territory that requires developing and maintaining contacts with guidance counselors, organizations, agencies and clubs for the purposes of recruiting students.
  • Requires travel during and after normal business hours to represent the university at recruitment events and activities.
  • Update and run required CRM/SAP reports to manage territory.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Admissions Counselor will work under the supervision of the Director of Admissions and will be assigned duties in both off-campus and on-campus recruitment. In addition, the Admissions Counselor will present to high school students, families and special groups, counselors and college access groups – sharing information on the admissions process and opportunities available at UW-Stout.
