The School Counseling program, housed in the Department of School Counseling, School Psychology and Special Education is an experientially based, CACREP accredited K-12 masters-level program. The School Counseling program values an awareness and sensitivity to diverse student populations. Faculty are encouraged to engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration. Our educational resources include clinical services counseling labs, a well-equipped play therapy lab and a school counseling career and resource lab.
The position is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment that serves graduate students in School Counseling (K-12), Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Psychology Programs. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the field of school counseling as well as counselor education through teaching graduate courses in an experience-centered environment, supervising students, scholarly activity, curriculum development, assessment of student learning, service to the university and community, and professional affiliations (e.g., WSCA, ASCA, ACES, ACA). Courses taught may include, but are not limited to, Play Therapy, Ethical, Legal & Professional Issues in School Counseling, PK-12 Classroom Curriculum, Assessment Lab, Lifespan Career Development and School Counseling Practicum seminar and supervision. Candidates should have, or be eligible for, relevant counseling credentials (e.g., school counselor licensure, LPC, NCC). Candidates should also demonstrate and promote a commitment to social justice and respect for diverse cultures, backgrounds, and identities.
The anticipated start date for this position is January 5, 2018 or August 20, 2018.
Minimum / Required
- Doctorate in Counselor Education or related field with an emphasis in School Counseling; consideration will be given to candidates who are ABD, although doctorate must be completed within one year of the contract start date
- Doctorate in Counselor Education with an emphasis in School Counseling from a CACREP-accredited program
- School Counselor experience with PK-12, internships may be included
- Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience
- Evidence of scholarly productivity
