The University of Wisconsin-Stout School of Education seeks an emerging or established scholar with expertise to fill a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Technology Education. The B.S. Technology Education program was one of the first programs offered at UW-Stout and continues to be one of the signature educator preparation programs at the University. Graduates are highly sought after to teach transportation, construction, electricity/electronics, manufacturing processes, or other related technical areas in preK-12 schools. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses (face-to-face and online), including teacher preparation courses, will supervise student teachers, and engage in program assessment of student learning. With the emphasis on Fab Labs in preK-12 schools, the candidate will also coordinate with University faculty, Fab Lab staff, and preK-12 educators to develop curriculum that integrates Fab Labs and provide professional development related to Fab Labs. ANTICIPATED START DATE: August 2023; may have opportunity for summer 2023 contract



  • Minimum of 3 years’ Technology Education/Industrial Technology/Industrial Arts teaching experience in preK-12 settings
  • Graduate degree in Technology Education, Industrial Technology, Industrial Arts or a closely related field
  • Experience with inquiry-based learning in a lab environment with advanced technology
  • Demonstrated collegial and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and members of the community
  • Experience working with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Engaged with advancing student learning in the area of Technology Education/Industrial Technology
  • Ability to travel to schools, conferences, and other events


  • PhD, EdD, or pursuing a terminal degree in Technology Education, Industrial Technology, Industrial Arts or closely related field
  • Technology Education/Industrial Technology preK-12 teaching license equivalent to a Wisconsin Tier II license
  • Teaching experience in Technology Education/Industrial Technology within U.S. preK-12 schools
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, scholarly publications, and service in higher education
  • Demonstrated ability to teach distance education via different formats (synchronous and asynchronous online, hybrid)
  • Development of collaborative partnerships within the educational community


  • Teach technology education/industrial technology courses and other education courses as needed by the department
  • Supervise technology education/industrial technology student teachers and interns
  • Identify and implement collaborative opportunities for cross-disciplinary instruction and Fab Lab projects among educator preparation programs
  • Co-facilitate and develop Fab Lab workshops for preK-12 educators
  • Develop other training opportunities and/or curriculum supports for WI Fab Labs, assisting with alignment of curricula and learning activities to relevant standards
  • Pursue professional development and training related to Fab Labs and emerging technologies applicable to technology education/industrial technology and education in general
  • Assess student learning and provide timely and formative feedback to students
  • Participate in course and program assessment
  • Provide academic advisement for students in the B.S. Technology Education program
  • Maintain an active research agenda
  • Actively participate and provide service to the department, college, and university (e.g., committees)
  • Attend department, college, and university meetings
  • Maintain a healthy and safe classroom and lab learning environment
  • Pursue external funding
  • Demonstrate positive, collaborative, and solution-focused collegial environment for teaching, student-centered learning, and relationships with internal and external constituents.


The mission of the Teaching, Learning, and Leadership Department (TLL) is to provide exemplary teaching, research, and service to ensure that graduates of the Department become successful and effective leaders and educators in their chosen professional discipline.
