Associate Director of Professional Education
The University of Wisconsin-Stout, Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University, invites qualified candidates to apply for our Associate Director of Professional Education position in the Professional Education Programs and Services department, within Educational Pathways and Outreach. The Associate Director of Professional Education assists in the development, supervision, and delivery of quality outreach programs. Professional Education provides access to education and resources for the enrichment, personally and professionally, through a variety of offerings. The Professional Education team provides programming and services around conferences and workshops, credentialing (CEUs), customized business training, event planning services, and youth camps.
The position will collaborate with the Executive Director of Educational Pathways and Outreach and the Professional Education department to create and implement strategic plans designed to grow UW-Stout’s outreach program portfolio. The Associate Director will develop and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with internal and external stakeholders that will support the growth and execution of programs. In addition, the Associate Director will be responsible for maintaining a select portfolio of programming. The Associate Director will also be a team member committed to promoting the development of an equitable and inclusive environment.
The position reports directly to the Executive Director of Educational Pathways and Outreach. The Professional Education department is part of the larger Educational Pathways and Outreach unit which focuses on developing educational pathways for K-12 students, customized instruction, and professional and continuing education for post-traditional learners. The Associate Director directly oversees the operations of the Professional Education department including programming, budget development and monitoring, assisting with annual reporting, and direct staff supervision including Outreach Program Managers and Program Coordinators.
Minimum / Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience developing and marketing educational outreach programs (experience with university-based continuing education programs, contract training for professional associations or business and industry, and/or MEPs preferred)
- Experience fostering strong partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated professional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
- Master’s degree
- 3-5 years leadership experience
- Budget development and management
- Experience with strategic planning, data-informed decision making, and program evaluation
- Ability to use technology effectively to advance processes, procedures, and efficiencies
- Demonstrated experience in establishing a climate that embraces equity, diversity, and inclusion

Minimum starting salary of $51,700, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan.
