Job Description
UW-Stout, Wisconsin's Polytechnic University, welcomes applications for an Associate Director for Outreach Programs. The position joins an expanding Educational Pathways and Outreach unit, which coordinates continuing education programming. This academic staff position will assist in the development, supervision, and delivery of quality outreach programs related to meeting the institutional goals of 1) being a 12-month active campus and 2) increasing the number of revenue-generating, non-degree bearing, faculty led initiatives and cross-college programs. The Associate Director will maintain strategic partnerships to support growth and execution of programs through productive relationships between the university and the community and meet professional development learning needs of various stakeholders.
This position will work with industry partners to learn about and stay up to date on their needs for professional development, as well as learning needs at the state, regional and national levels. The Associate Director will work in partnership with the Office of Corporate Relations and Economic Engagement (OCREE) and Career Services (CS) to ensure a comprehensive approach when engaging with the business and industry community. The Associate Director will strive to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. This position reports to and works collaboratively with the Executive Director of Educational Pathways and Outreach (EPO).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
- Bachelor's degree by employment start date
- Experience developing adult-learner educational programming
- Demonstrated ability to translate subject matter expertise into learning offerings for a range of audiences including working professionals and community members
- Interest in continuing education emerging trends
- Professional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to understand the needs of adult learners
Highly Desired/Preferred
- Master's degree
- Experience with training for professional associations or business and industry
RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct long-range and short-term strategic plans and initiatives
- Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of programming opportunities including deans, department chairs, faculty, OCREE, CS, and external partners
- Supervise and mentor Micro-Credential Program Manager to reach established program outcomes
- Work with aligned areas (Colleges) to identify and pair subject matter experts to learning initiatives
- Use appropriate technologies, such as Salesforce, to match program content and goals and track leads, opportunities, etc.
Develop organizational and operational policies, procedures and monitor performance
- Develop and maintain operating budgets of new and existing programming
- Work with aligned internal areas (EPO, OCREE, Colleges, Provost's Office, etc.), and external partners from public and private sectors to identify learning initiatives and target audiences
- Scan environment, professional associations, and publications for ways to expand program array
- Conduct needs assessments and identify content for audience groups
Serve as a liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups
- Work with aligned areas (MarCom, EPO, OCREE, etc.) to promote attendance and participation in learning initiatives
- Utilize comprehensive software tool (currently Cvent) - including event creation, event management, customer relationship management (Salesforce), e-mail advertising, registration tracking and reporting
- Work with aligned areas- marketing professionals to reach the target markets for developed offerings
- Supervise program coordinator activities as they provide program support
- Develop a cost analysis for all micro-credential and CE programming; develop and manage program budgets; coordinate with unit budget manager
- Oversee program facilities, registration processes, participant materials, and evaluations
- Maintain participation and achievement of learner CEUs
Develop and monitor budgets

UW-Stout's Educational Pathways and Outreach department is comprised of three areas: Continuing Education and Conferences, Educational Pathways, Stout Online, overseen by an executive director.
Continuing Education and Conferences supports the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Stout by providing adult learners with access to university education and resources for the enrichment of their lives, both personally and professionally. Their programs and services include certificate programs and noncredit courses, many offering optional college credit; conferences and workshops covering a variety of topical areas; customized business training and educational programs; and program and event planning services.
Continuing Education is committed to meeting the outreach and lifelong educational needs of learners. Through the development and delivery of courses and programs on campus, online and at designated off-campus locations, they connect the resources of the university with individual needs. Coursework can be applied toward professional development, certificates, certifications, degree completion and graduate degrees.
Stout Online's Customized Instruction (CI) degree programs, certificates, and certifications are designed to bring courses to life in an online format using the innovative Canvas learning system. These customized instruction opportunities are provided at undergraduate or graduate level, bachelor to doctorate, and may be completed online, hybrid, or through other arrangements convenient to each student's specific lifestyle. Stout Online helps students to finish a degree, make a career change, or update professional skills for career advancement.
Educational Pathways is designed to build pathways for youth into programs at UW-Stout. Youth programming includes year-round youth camp offerings, high school dual enrollment, and other engagement offerings to engage youth and reinforce confidence in career exploration and higher education.
