Associate Director, UW-Stout Counseling Center
The University of Wisconsin-Stout Counseling Center is seeking a qualified individual to apply for an Associate Director position. This position will also be responsible for coordinating the counselor training program in the Counseling Center. This position is a 100% appointment with full benefits. This position will be responsible for providing culturally informed services, including using best practices and evidenced-based care, to ensure a high quality of care for all students.
The Associate Director assists with key administrative responsibilities for the Counseling Center and functions as the backup administrator to the Director; assisting with policy development, budget, overseeing staff, and leading and managing counselor training efforts within the center. This individual will also be responsible for a clinical caseload (individual, couples, and group counseling and crisis services), providing clinical supervision, outreach and prevention programming, and consultation to campus and community constituents. These services may be provided both in-person and through tele-counseling.
The primary coordinator role for the Associate Director will be the Training Coordinator. This role will coordinate a vibrant master’s level counselor training program, including assisting in the selection, hiring, training, and supervision of practicum and internship counselors. The Training Coordinator will collaborate with master’s and doctoral programs to recruit counselors in training and to comply with training requirements. The Associate Director will provide individual supervision to graduate-level practicum counselors and master’s or doctoral level counselors working towards licensure, including review of case notes and videos and completion of evaluations. Additionally, this role will assist with supervision training in the center for staff.

Minimum / Required
- Master’s degree completed in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or related degree which meets educational requirements for Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
- Two years of leadership, including increased supervisory and administrative responsibilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion practices within an organization, team, and/or campus environment.
Preferred/Highly Desired Qualifications
- Licensed psychologist or licensed for at least five years as a LPC, LMFT, or LCSW
- Minimum of one year experience working in a college or university counseling center.
- Experience/expertise in the following:
- Crisis assessment and response.
- Assessing and treating serious mental health issues.
- Clinical supervision.
- Clinical experience working with traditionally underserved or marginalized populations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing clinical services, outreach, and training for diverse populations.
- Facilitation of groups, particularly interpersonal process groups.
- Psychological testing.
- Providing telehealth services.
