The University of Wisconsin-Stout Counseling Center is seeking qualified individuals to apply for two different job positions. Both are 90% appointments with full benefits. The counselors hired will join a positive, energetic work environment with staff who are committed to promoting the mental health of our students and to ongoing cultural self-awareness and improvement.   1. Counselor/Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Coordinator

60% counseling, 15% equity, diversity, and inclusion coordination, 10% clinical training and supervision, and 15% other

  1. Counselor/Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Coordinator

60% counseling, 15% alcohol education coordination, including training for practicum and intern students, 10% clinical training and supervision, and 15% other

Both of these positions will be responsible for a significant clinical caseload. In their clinical roles, these positions will be responsible for providing individual, couples, and group counseling, crisis services and intervention, outreach and prevention programming, and consultation to campus and community constituents. These services may be provided both in-person and through telehealth. We seek candidates who demonstrate a clear interest and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion practices within their clinical practice and supervision work. As a staff we are committed to ongoing reflection, learning, and incorporation of a multicultural perspective into all areas of our work. Both positions will be responsible for providing culturally informed services, including using best practices and evidenced-based care, to ensure a high quality of care for all students.

ANTICIPATED START DATE: July/August 2021

COUNSELOR/EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION COORDINATOR

In addition to the clinical role described above, the EDI Coordinator assists with organizing EDI efforts within the Counseling Center for students and staff. This role will collaborate with the Associate Dean of Students for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, as well as various offices on campus (e.g. Multicultural Student Services, Disability Services, The Qube, Veterans Services, Student Support Services, etc) to develop collaborative relationships and programming with various campus partners that are serving our historically marginalized populations. The coordinator will also assist with the development and implementation of a short and long term EDI action plan for the center.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or related degree which meets educational requirements for Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion practices within an organization, team, and/or campus environment.

Preferred/Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Licensed or licensed eligible in Wisconsin within approximately 6 months as a LPC, LMFT, or LCSW
  • Experience/expertise in the following:
    • Crisis assessment and response.
    • Assessing and treating serious mental health issues.
    • Clinical experience working with traditionally underserved or marginalized populations.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing clinical services, outreach, and training for diverse populations.
    • Clinical supervision.
    • Facilitation of groups, particularly interpersonal process groups.
    • Providing telehealth services.

COUNSELOR/ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG COORDINATOR

In addition to the clinical role described above, the AOD Coordinator organizes the delivery of the Alcohol Awareness Program in its two phases: 1) Alcohol Education: Safety Skills Training classes and 2) Drinker’s Check-Up (DCU) and Marijuana Check-up (MCU). This role assists with the training of counseling interns who will lead AODEP classes and DCU/MCU. The AOD Coordinator participates in the Chancellor’s Alcohol and Drug Coalition and participates in campus AOD use prevention initiatives as well.

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan. The employee classification for these positions is: Academic staff / Annual 12-Month Appointment at 90%.
