The University of Wisconsin-Stout Student Counseling Center is seeking qualified individuals to apply for a Counselor/Psychologist position. This position is a 90%, 12-month appointment with full benefits. The individual hired will join a positive, energetic work environment with staff who are committed to promoting the mental health of our students and to ongoing cultural self-awareness and improvement.
We seek candidates who demonstrate a clear interest and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion practices within their clinical practice and supervision work. As a staff we are committed to ongoing reflection, learning, and incorporation of a multicultural perspective into all areas of our work. This position will be responsible for providing culturally informed services, including using best practices and evidenced-based care, to ensure a high quality of care for all students.
This position will be responsible for a significant clinical caseload, ranging from 50-60%. In the clinical role, staff will be responsible for providing individual, couples, and group counseling, crisis services and intervention, outreach and prevention programming, and consultation to campus and community constituents. These services may be provided both in-person and through telecounseling. In addition to clinical work, staff hold a coordinator role. This position is planned to assist with alcohol and other drug education programming, though experiences and interests will be considered when assigning a coordinator role. All staff also participate in providing clinical supervision, as appropriate, to Master's level trainees and counseling staff who are working towards licensure.
Minimum / Required
- Master's degree completed by start date in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or related degree which meets educational requirements for Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in working with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and constituents.
- Experience/expertise in the following:
- Crisis assessment and response.
- Assessing and treating serious mental health issues.
- Clinical experience working with traditionally underserved or marginalized populations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing clinical services, outreach, and training for diverse populations.
- Clinical supervision.
- Facilitation of groups, particularly interpersonal process groups.
