The University of Wisconsin-Stout is seeking collaborative professional, committed to promoting the development of an equitable and inclusive environment, to serve as a financial specialist in Student Life & Services Administrative office.

Student Life & Services

This position is responsible for all the Student Life & Services (SL&S) areas for the collection of financial data using UW-Stout software, the development and maintenance of financial reports, and perform accounting and auditing duties that are moderate in complexity but do not require knowledge of professional accounting or auditing theory. This position will audit/reconcile transactions, and prepare/process journal entries, deposits, invoices, and/or refunds. This position will work with many internal SL&S departments directly to offer training, guidance, and solutions to their financial needs using both UW-Stout and UW System policies and guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Associate degree.
  • Knowledge accounts payable, and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Knowledge of PC-based word processing, and spreadsheets.

Highly Desired

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Professional work experience with Microsoft Excel and use of macros, pivot tables, and other tools.
  • Knowledge of payroll practices and database software applications.
  • Experience working with complex transactions in accordance with rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Primarily reviews, approves, and advises on a variety of complex financial transactions.
  • Reconciles transactions.
  • Maintains financial records, provides administrative processing support, and provides customer service for staff and customers in an assigned program area to support program financial management.

The unit, located within the division of the Chancellor, consists of the Housing, Dining, Campus Card, Student Health, Police, Parking, Student Centers, Involvement Center, Student Organizations, Alternative Transportation, Green Fee, Dean of Students, Counseling, and Disability Services.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Minimum starting salary of $52,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan.
