SALARY: $16.25/hour minimum; salary dependent upon experience and/or qualifications
JOB DUTIES: This position reports to the Discovery Center (DC) Executive Director and will also receive direction from the Discovery Center Senior Accountant. This position will be responsible for assisting the Discovery Center Senior Accountant in ensuring unit financial needs and requirements are met and maintained. This position will work primarily with grants and contracts, as well as grant-required cost share information for reporting purposes. This position will also provide financial specialist assistance with other unit funding strings, as required.
- Minimum: Strong working knowledge of general accounting practices, financial statements and basic accounting terminology and practices; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; working knowledge of desktop software programs (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer); strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team environment on collaborative efforts.
- Preferred: Experience in a higher educational environment; experience using university and UW System information systems (Hyperion, PeopleSoft, WISDM, ImageNow, Salesforce).

The normal work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The minimum starting salary is $16.25 per hour. The hourly rate for this position is negotiable based on experience and available budget. This position is in the Financial Specialist – UW Title Series and the UW title will be determined based on experience. A six-month probation is required.
