Instructor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Engineering and Technology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications for an instructor to prepare career-ready engineers and engineering technologists through hands-on learning experiences. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in all areas of foundation courses in Computer and Electrical Engineering and Engineering Technology programs. The appointment is full time with intent to renew at 50% or more. The anticipated start date is August 21, 2023.
- Minimum/Required of all candidates
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
- Two (2) or more years of industry or laboratory work history in two or more areas of the teaching responsibilities (see below) by employment start date
- Ability to teach in a lecture/lab environment
- Excellence in oral and written English communication
- Interest in advancing student learning in the area of engineering
- Demonstrated success working with diverse stakeholders
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Technology
- Commitment to the core values of equity, diversity and inclusion
- Teach courses related to the following two or more topics (depending on experience and qualifications):
- Circuit Analysis and Design
- Programmable Logic Controllers
- Electrical Machine and Controls
- Power Electronics
- Capstone Project/Senior Design Project
- Conduct assessment of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment and continuous improvement processes, in collaboration with faculty and staff.
- Participate in departmental service activities.
The Engineering and Technology Department is one of eight departments in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Management (CSTEMM). The department has approximately 40 full-time faculty and staff, four of whom are full-time technicians. The department provides courses for its well-established and accredited undergraduate programs in Computer & Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering (B.S. and M.S.), Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Engineering Technology, and Packaging, plus other programs throughout the university.
