Student Life and Services is seeking a self-motivated individual to work as a member of the technical services team in Student Life and Services Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. We are looking for individuals with a technical curiosity to advance the effectiveness of software applications, provide expertise for hardware purchases and ongoing support, and lead a team of student technicians within Student Life and Services.
The systems development services position will work as a member of a team responsible for supporting the IT needs of all Student Life and Services departments. Members of the team are technical experts that work closely with departments to evaluate, plan, develop, implement and support software applications. Team members are responsible for the network infrastructure in residence halls and university centers. Additionally, team members will be responsible for installing, terminating, labeling, testing and troubleshooting of data, voice and video cabling systems. This position will provide support to users on technical issues and problems relating to hardware, software and peripherals. This position will also be responsible for training and leading a team of student technicians that provide first level support to our customers.
Minimum / Required
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related degree
- 3+ years’ experience in a technical environment
- Strong customer service orientation
- Supervisory experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective troubleshooting techniques
- Experience with Windows operating systems
- Experience with effective project management, software implementation, integration, and software training
- Experience with multiple software programs
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 office suite or equivalent
- Knowledge of SQL
- Knowledge of techniques used to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, customers, external vendors and suppliers
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related degree
- 7+ years’ experience in a technical environment
- Experience in a higher education environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint
- Knowledge of help desk ticketing systems
- Knowledge of Macintosh operating systems
Student Life & Services (SLS) Technology consists of professional staff and student technicians that provide support to several campus departments including Campus Card, Counseling, Disability Services, Dean of Students, Multicultural Student Services, McNair Scholars Program, SL&S Administration, Student Health Services, Student Support Services, University Centers, University Dining Service, University Housing, and University Police.
