Lecturer, Constructed Perspective Drawing and Design Thinking
Job Description
JOB DETAILS:
The University of Wisconsin-Stout School of Art & Design seeks an educator for a full-time, renewable appointment teaching multiple sections of studio-based constructed perspective drawing and design thinking classes. These courses serve 2nd year students in various design disciplines, including interior, industrial, and game design.
Design drawing is a perspective-heavy course in one and two-point perspective as well as industry-focused design sketching. Design thinking is a course about critical thinking and design problem-solving techniques.
These in-person classes are fully enrolled and scheduled for this fall semester. Syllabus, typical projects, office space, a laptop computer, class resources and mentorship from area faculty will be provided to support the instructor. This is a full-time, 9-month academic year instructional staff position starting August 21, 2023, with intent to renew.
APPOINTMENT DATES: August 21, 2023 – ongoing.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in design drawing techniques, with emphasis on constructed perspective drawing.
- Proficiency in quick ideation hand sketching with emphasis on the design of space and objects..
- Experience in design thinking processes, techniques, concepts, and theory.
- Experience in a design-focused discipline, including but not limited to one of the following:
- Industrial Design
- Interior Design
- Architecture
- Drafting
- Technical Drawing
- Game Design
- Concept Art
- Graphic Design
- Bachelor’s degree plus five years of professional experience relevant to the content being taught.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in university-level teaching; experience with learning management tools.
- Master’s degree or higher, in related field.
- Previous experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring, ideally of junior designers.
