WORKING TITLE: Office Manager

JOB TITLE: Office Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Center for the Study of Institutions and Innovation (CSII)




Administrative Assistant to Director, Center for the Study of Institutions and Innovation (CSII). Office manager responsible for day-to-day operations of the center including but not limited to paper and electronic record keeping (including budget); conducting phone, email, and other correspondence; managing office supplies and equipment; and organizing department meetings. Also, supervise center promotional activities and student office employees. Duties will be coordinated with an LTE office assistant.



- Three years fulltime office work experience.

- One year supervising other employees.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively use and learn new computer software and databases.

- Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail.

- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communications skills with administrators, faculty,

staff, students, and community members.

- Demonstrated ability to manage office finances.


- Knowledge of UW-Stout software and databases.

- Bachelor’s or Associate degree from accredited institution of higher education.


CSII is housed in the College of Arts, Communication, Humanities and Social Sciences and funded by a private donor. It is the base for a network of more than twenty public and private universities and colleges across Wisconsin. CSII’s mission is to promote the study and discussion of civil liberties and their relationship to institutions and innovation. CSII funds speakers, panels, and debates; faculty and student research, workshops and trainings; book reading groups; and a variety of projects.

All students are issued laptops. Faculty use the university’s online course delivery system and must be available for online interactions and/or alternate time frames for teaching. Faculty members teach, advise students, conduct research, assess student learning and engage in service activities.

Menomonie, Wisconsin, is a town of 16,000 located in the beautiful Chippewa River Valley, 25 miles west of Eau Claire and 60 miles east of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

This is an annual position that will work 30 hours per week between the hours of 7:45 am to 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday during the academic year. Reduced and flexible hours during academic breaks and summer.

The minimum starting rate for this position is $14.00 per hour. The hourly rate for this position is negotiable based on experience and available budget. A six-month probation is required.
