Job Description
PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICE ASSISTANT
This position works under general supervision of the Chief of Police / Director of Parking Services. It is responsible for aspects involving the parking services unit of this department. The position is funded through parking operations budget. The overall duties of this position are at a paraprofessional level supporting the parking operations.
This position will also need to have working knowledge of the complex parking management system databases, to manage the parking operations in the absence of the Department Assistant. This position may be granted access to the TIME system. Because of this access, the position will require a full police background check process.
This position will require excellent customer service skills as it is the first point of contact for incoming phone calls on the administrative line, as well as for customers coming into the office.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum¿
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent judgment including sensitivity to personal and confidential information.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills in working with a diverse community.
Working knowledge of desktop hardware and standard business software programs (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database) and the Internet.
Have the ability to prioritize work.
Attention to detail, proofreading and editing skills.
Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness and resourcefulness.
Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse community.
Work independently and as part of a team environment and on collaborative efforts.
Preferred
Experience in a higher education and/or criminal justice environment, or similar office setting.
Bachelor's Degree in related field.
Special Requirements
Must be able to pass Department of Justice background check.
RESPONSIBILITIES
100% - Maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of the parking services division.
-Support of the Parking program is a substantial part of this positions responsibilities and includes daily activity in support of and primary responsibility in the absence of the parking Department Assistant.
-Maintain a working knowledge of the parking management databases.
-Be fully conversant with parking regulations and all enforcement/regulation procedures. Act to clearly communicate parking regulations to customers and university departments as well as direct the activities of student patrol related to enforcement processes.
-Maintain a working knowledge of procedures related to assignment, sales, and management of the campus parking permit system.
-Assist with customer service contacts both by phone and at the counter as needed.
-Work closely with the student employees working parking enforcement.
-Maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of administrative support for the department to maintain full operations of the front office.
-Coordinate parking for on campus guests and events.
