This position is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the University of Wisconsin -Stout Central Heating Plant.
- Experience and knowledge of boiler operation as well as steam distribution.
- Experience and knowledge of auxiliary equipment including: valves, pumps, conveyors, compressors, fans, and piping systems
- Experience and knowledge of electronic and pneumatic boiler control systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness, and resourcefulness.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Coal burning experience and knowledge
- Boiler water/ feed water testing and treatment experience and knowledge.

The normal work schedule for this position is rotating.
The minimum starting salary is $17.87 per hour for a Power Plant Operator title and $19.30 per hour for a Power Plant Operator-Senior title. The hourly rate for this position is negotiable based on experience and available budget. This position is in the Power Plant Operator title series and the title will be determined based on provessional skills, and experience. A twelve-month probation is required.
