JOB TITLE: Shipping and Mailing Associate

APPOINTMENT PERCENTAGE (FTE): 100%

This is a full-time position that reports to the Materials Management Supervisor. This position is responsible for the daily operations of the Mail Services, Central Receiving and University Stores to include on Campus interdepartmental mail, US Postal, Bulk Mail, incoming & outgoing packages. Meter outgoing mail by appropriate classes, rates and methods of delivery to include Certified, registered, Insured, UPS, Federal Express. Deliver and pick up of mail and packages using campus van.
- Experience with database, spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with faculty, staff and vendors.
- Commitment to working with diverse populations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to include handling of large mail containers and packages.
- Experience in one or more of the functional areas Mail Services, Shipping and Receiving, Inventory control
- Knowledge of or ability to learn USPS regulations and PostalSoft software.
- Experience with incoming & outgoing shipments via UPS, Federal Express, USPS, Speedy
- Work independently and with limited supervision.
- Within 6 months of appointment, must be certified on powered industrial trucks.
- All tasks are to be completed while adhering to health and safety policies.
Mail Services and Central Receiving is a department within the Purchasing and Materials Management. Material Management provides logistical services that help the university function effectively and includes responsibility for: 1) Printing Services: print buying services and campus managed printer program, 2) Central Shipping/Receiving : acceptance and prompt delivery or redirection of shipments, 3) Mail Services: process incoming, outgoing and interdepartmental mail, 4) University Stores: purchase and stock supplies and distribute throughout the campus.

The normal work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The minimum starting salary is $14.00 per hour. The hourly rate for this position is negotiable based on experience and available budget. A six-month probation is required.
