Tenure-Track Assistant Professor - Construction (Job #16002)
The Operations and Management Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications to fill one (1) tenure-track position in the Construction Program. Anticipated start date is August 24, 2020.
- M.S. and B.S. degrees in construction engineering/management, civil engineering, architectural engineering, or related field.
- All academic degrees must be received and conferred from appropriately accredited institutions. M.S. applicants must have the degree conferred by August 2020.
- Have five (5) or more years of professional experience in the U.S. construction industry.
- Relevant professional practice experience with professional registration or certification in the U.S. (P.E., CPC, PMP, etc.) or obtain this licensure prior to start date in order to meet qualifications.
- Demonstrated experience leading a collaborative work environment with diverse populations.
- Ph.D. or ABD candidate in construction engineering/management, civil engineering, architectural engineering, or related field. ABD applicants must have the degree conferred by August 2022.
- Teaching experience as a lead instructor under undergraduate-level degree in the engineering or construction management disciplines, such as estimating, scheduling, cost control, capstone, etc.
- Currently active (within 1 year prior to application) with AEC industry networks, which can include participation in an AEC professional organization, such as ABC, AGC, ASC, MCAA, NAHB, etc.
- Coursework towards a graduate-level degree in the engineering or construction management disciplines
- Experience with sustainable or high-performance design and construction methods.
- Knowledge of the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accreditation process.
- Teach various undergraduate and/or graduate construction management courses within the ACCE accredited B.S. Construction and M.S. Construction Management Program.
- Provide service to student organizations, capstone experience, curriculum development and assessment of student learning, and student advisement.
- Actively participate in professional organization(s) directly related to the construction industry.
- Research interests in areas that expand the breadth of construction safety, facilities management, building performance, and other cutting-edge fields.
- Demonstrate computer literacy and expertise in construction industry software systems.
- Delivery courses in a variety of formats, times and locations.
- Set up, operate, and maintain laboratories and course related equipment.
- Be supportive in working with a diverse population of stakeholders (faculty, staff, industry partners and cross departmental units).
The University of Wisconsin-Stout is a comprehensive, career focused polytechnic university where students, faculty, and staff use applied learning, scientific theory, and practical research to produce innovative solutions to community, national, and global challenges. The Construction Program is housed in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematics and Management with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction, as well as a Construction Master’s degree beginning fall of 2016. The Program serves over 280 undergraduate students.
The Operations and Management Department is housed within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Management, serves graduate majors Training and Human Resource Development, Operations Supply Management, Construction, Risk Control, and Healthcare Administration and related undergraduate majors. The department currently has full-time and part-time faculty/staff and offers in excess of 50 courses and 100 different sections.
