Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Alumni Relations
The University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Alumni Relations. The Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Alumni Relations reports directly to the Chancellor and is a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet.
Minimum / Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least five years of professional fundraising experience
- Professional working knowledge of university advancement, alumni relations, fundraising and external relations, management principles and best practices
- Master’s or terminal degree
- Experience at an institution of higher education
- Exceptional leadership, fundraising, management, communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and senior administrators to achieve university priorities and goals
- Designation as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE)
- The Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Alumni Relations will provide management and coordination of university development plans to enhance the image and understanding of the university and to increase support for the university in accordance with the mission and strategic plan of the campus.
- Provide advice, counsel and leadership for the Stout University Foundation, which is a private, independent university fundraising organization; and its Board of Directors, committees and affiliated organizations.
- Plan, develop and implement approaches to solicit and acquire funds for the institution, including annual, planned, major gift program, and specialized or comprehensive fundraising campaigns. The Vice Chancellor shall participate, with specific goals and responsibilities, in the personal contact, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
- In consultation with the Provost/Vice Chancellor, facilitate efforts to increase funding and all other forms of institutional support for the research and instructional programs of the campus from public and private foundations and business and corporate partners.
- Plan and direct a comprehensive accounting, transmittal and acknowledgement process for all gifts and donations to the Foundation, Alumni Association and university.
- Provide oversight for the donor stewardship program including donor recognition, naming opportunities and consistent reporting to donors on the impact of philanthropic giving to the university.
- Provide advice and counsel, and work with Alumni Association staff to facilitate development of alumni engagement strategies and programs that promote alumni pride and lifelong relationships with the university.
- Provide guidance regarding University of Wisconsin System, university and governmental regulations.
- Serve as liaison among the university, Foundation and Alumni Association.
University Advancement includes the Stout University Foundation, the private fundraising arm of UW-Stout, and Alumni Relations. The Stout University Foundation began in 1962 and supports the mission and goals of UW-Stout through the acquisition and stewardship of resources. It currently is engaged in Pathways Forward, the foundation’s first comprehensive campaign. The Alumni Association provides students and alumni with information, opportunities and services to create and foster a sense of community and embrace the mission of UW-Stout.

Faculty use the university’s online course delivery system and must be available for online interactions and/or alternate time frames for teaching. Faculty members teach, advise students, conduct research, assess student learning and engage in service activities.
Menomonie, Wisconsin, is a town of 16,000 located in the beautiful Chippewa River Valley, 25 miles west of Eau Claire and 60 miles east of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
