The University of Wisconsin-Stout (UW-Stout) invites applications for the position of Web Manager in the Marketing Communications (MarCom) department.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Web Manager provides leadership for web content and emerging communication technologies. The position is responsible for supervising MarCom web team professionals and student staff as well as planning, creating, delivering and evaluating digital and content marketing strategies that support the University’s goals and strategic plan as part of the overall marketing plan. The Web Manager, in collaboration with the Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) Web Operations Manager, provides training and guidance to university faculty, department and campus colleagues on content strategies and Drupal content management system (CMS) publication. The position encompasses a broad scope of responsibilities requiring expertise in communications, marketing and technical experience and depth of knowledge in website best practices, content marketing and communications design and development.

The Web Manager will be a proven leader who is able to establish and maintain effective and responsible working relationships. This individual will have demonstrated abilities in management planning, budget, and assessment; a record of proven results to promote an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment; possess the ability to build a strong team and develop and maintain collaborative relationships; and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. A successful candidate will demonstrate ethical values, creativity, energy and will be committed to student success and the mission of UW-Stout as Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related degree or five years of related experience
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Organization and creativity skills
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite software and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and content management systems (CMS)
  • Experience managing numerous marketing projects while simultaneously meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build consensus establishing a work environment that embraces, equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of basic programming languages, such as HTML, CSS

Highly Desired

  • Experience in UX/UI design and analytic tools
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as PHP and jQuery
  • Experience designing website themes in Drupal 9
  • Experience with SEO tools and software such as MOZ
  • Experience in a university or higher education environment and/or a large nonprofit organization
  • Development and analysis of integrated marketing campaigns
  • Understanding and experience promoting multiple program delivery platforms (face-to-face, online, hybrid)
  • Proficiency in creating and delivering presentations to various stakeholders
  • Experience writing within a marketing environment
  • Strong team building skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

Web & Content Development

  • Serve as the university’s frontend web administrator in collaboration with EIS backend web operations manager to ensure W3C content standards and accessibility compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Provost Office on content updates and/or site development for academic units and programs on the university’s website.
  • Oversee integration of web marketing into overarching university marketing plans.
  • Collaborate with units across campus to prioritize audiences, messages and goals for department sub-sites on www.uwstout.edu.
  • Coordinate with the web operations manager ongoing inventory, audit and site mapping process and implement improvements to site function.
  • Perform quality assurance tests on development deployments to the CMS.
  • Research and make user-experience recommendations related to core functions and features.
  • Optimize web accessibility to achieve standards set by the Web Content Accessible Guidelines.
  • Write marketing content for university web pages using identity brand and web publishing standards.
  • Serve as co-chair of the Web Oversight Committee implementing the university Web Policy No. 02-62.

Analytics & User Experience Optimization

  • Use the Google Analytics suite and other data collection tools to provide guidance and insight to inform decision-making on web content, themes and information architecture.
  • Analyze and improve the SEO/SEM of the university’s brand website.
  • Foster and maintain partnerships with university departments to promote UX research.
  • Research and conceive user-testing experiences for the external website and intranet.
  • Develop and execute user-testing plans and deliver findings and recommendations.
  • Acquire IRB approval as necessary and adhere to all applicable data collection laws.

Training and Supervision

  • Maintain a comprehensive web author training program that includes: a training handbook, reference materials, a training course outline.
  • Schedule training sessions and train all web authors.
  • Ensure timely communication of changes to CMS functionality to web authors.
  • Supervise MarCom co-op students, student employees and interns with job duties relating to website editing/publishing and user-testing experience.

Marketing Communications (MarCom) leads and implements marketing communications research and strategies to help drive UW-Stout's enrollment, partnerships, and fundraising initiatives. Our vision is to be at the forefront of higher education marketing communications by consistently adapting to the dynamic landscape and engaging our audiences with the UW-Stout brand.

MarCom works collaboratively across campus to lead campus-wide marketing strategies through:

  • Development and implementation of strategic marketing plans and campaigns to support a variety of campus goals
  • Oversight of branding guidelines, imagery, and our internet presence
  • Engagement of students, donors, and partners through the effective implementation of storytelling via news stories, web, publications, email campaigns, advertising, social media, and video
  • Data and research to help inform strategic decision making
  • Leadership, education, and outreach with the Integrated Marketing Committee (IMC), Web Team, Web Oversight Committee, and Identity Committee

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Minimum annual starting salary of $50,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience. The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan.
